Functional Disability of Personal Activities and Social Participation in Older Adults Living Alone

Abstract

|
Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the functional disability of personal activities and social participation in older Korean adults living alone based on ICF model.
Methods: Confirmatory factor analysis and principal component analysis were utilized to assess the factor structure and the construct validity of the functional disability of personal activities and social participation in older adults living alone.
Results: Using a confirmatory factor analysis in functional disability of personal activities, one factor structure was validated (¥ö2=1303.437, p<.001, CFI=.975, TLI=.971, RMSEA=.063, 90%CI=.060-.066). Cronbach¡¯s alpha was .86. Functional disability of social participation was vali dated by using a principal component analysis (principal component scores=0.498-0.672).
Conclusion: The functional disability of personal activities and social participation in older adults living alone showed satisfactory reliability and validity as one factor.
